Honeybees thrive when paddock grazing is implemented as a best practice. The constant regeneration of forage from frequently moved cattle in paddocks creates an ideal environment for bees. John, our novice beekeeper, witnessed this firsthand when our two Lazy JM Ranch beehives doubled to four. Our garden and fruit trees are now bursting with produce, thanks to our thriving bees.
As winter approaches, our honeybees are bedded down, with insulation added to the top of each hive. They have plenty of honey stored to get them through the cold months, and we're eagerly awaiting our third winter with them. Unfortunately, we lost three hives during the winter of 2021-2022, possibly due to moisture or mites—we're still unsure. Despite this setback, we remain committed to rebuilding our pollinator population. New bees and pollinators will arrive on April 23, 2023, and we're excited to see our hives flourish again.
Our honey products are a sweet testament to the health of our land. Produced by bees thriving on the rich, diverse forage of our paddock-grazed pastures, each jar is filled with pure, natural honey that captures the essence of the Lazy JM Ranch.
